Entry and exit methods define how vehicles are identified, verified, and tracked when they enter or leave a parking location. These methods directly affect traffic flow, billing accuracy, security, and overall operational efficiency.
SISTEM handles vehicle entry through two methods that is Session-based and Pass-based and within both of them, the vehicle itself can be identified using Manual, ANPR, or RFID entries
The Two Entry Methods
Session-Based Method
Session-based entry is for vehicles without a pre-assigned pass walk-ins, visitors, or one-off parkers. A session starts the moment the vehicle is identified, and closes when it exits.

Pass-Based Method
Pass-based entry is for vehicles that already have an active pass typically residents, employees, or frequent visitors. Instead of being charged a standard rate, the vehicle is matched against its pass, and the rules tied to that pass apply automatically.

How Vehicles Are Identified
Regardless of which method applies, SISTEM supports three ways to identify the vehicle:
- Manual — An operator enters the vehicle number directly. This works well wherever a human needs to verify the vehicle, or where hardware isn’t installed.
- ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) — Cameras detect the vehicle’s plate automatically, identifying it without any manual input. This suits high-traffic environments where speed matters.
- RFID — A tag or sticker on the vehicle is scanned automatically at entry. This works well for fast, hands-free identification, especially for recurring vehicles.
These three identification methods aren’t tied to one entry type — they apply to both session-based and pass-based entry.
How They Work Together
Because identification and entry type are independent of each other, a vehicle can be handled in any combination of the two:
| Manual | ANPR | RFID | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session-Based | Operator manually logs a walk-in vehicle | Camera detects the plate and starts a session automatically | Tag is scanned and a session starts automatically |
| Pass-Based | Operator manually enters the vehicle number, which is matched against an active pass | Camera detects the plate, matches it to an active pass automatically | Tag is scanned and matched to an active pass automatically |
In every case, if a vehicle has an active pass, SISTEM recognizes it and applies the pass’s rules regardless of whether that vehicle was identified manually, through ANPR, or through RFID.
Using Multiple Combinations in One Parking
Most real-world parkings don’t use just one combination they mix them based on who’s coming through:
- A resident’s vehicle might carry an RFID tag and an active pass, so entry happens completely automatically.
- A walk-in visitor might go through manual session entry, since there’s no pass to detect.
- A high-traffic lane might rely on ANPR for session-based entry, keeping things fast for vehicles without passes.
This flexibility means a single parking can support very different users recurring and one-time without forcing them all through the same process.
Benefits of Configuring This Correctly
Improved traffic flow Vehicles move faster when identification matches your traffic pattern automated methods reduce congestion, manual methods add verification where it’s needed.
Accurate billing and revenue tracking Since entry and exit determine when a session starts and ends, getting this right ensures every session-based or pass-based is captured and billed correctly.
Stronger security and access control You control who’s allowed in and how they’re verified, regardless of which identification method is used.
Reduced operational dependency ANPR and RFID cut down manual work, freeing your team to focus on supervision rather than manual check-ins.
Room to scale You can start with manual identification and introduce ANPR or RFID later, for either session-based or pass-based entry, without restructuring how your parking already works.
How to Choose the Right Setup
The right combination depends on:
- Traffic volume and peak hours
- Staff availability
- Hardware or automation infrastructure
- Whether users are one-time visitors or recurring passholders
- Security and compliance requirements
Many parkings start with manual entry for both session and pass-based vehicles, then introduce ANPR or RFID as traffic grows.
Before You Activate a Method
Before turning on any identification method, it’s worth checking:
- Vehicle types, capacity, and pricing are already configured
- Operator roles and permissions are assigned correctly
- Hardware is ready and tested, if you’re using ANPR or RFID
- A few sample sessions run smoothly before going live
In Simple Words
Entry in SISTEM comes down to two things: how the vehicle is recognized (Manual, ANPR, or RFID) and what kind of vehicle it is (a one-time session, or one with an active pass). Mixing and matching these lets a single parking handle walk-ins and regulars, manual and automated, all within the same system.
